Urge Your Representative to Cosponsor Arctic Refuge Protection Act

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

We need your help. To protect the Arctic Refuge from oil drilling long term, we must pass legislation to restore protections. That is why Representative Jared Huffman (D-CA) and Representative Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) recently introduced the Arctic Cultural and Coastal Plain Protection Act (H.R. 1146). This bill overrides 2017’s short-sighted tax bill provision that stripped protections for the Arctic Refuge and mandated drilling where the Porcupine caribou herd has given birth for thousands of years.

H.R. 1146 will restore protections for birthing caribou and denning polar bears and protect the coastal plain from oil drilling.

If your representative has not yet signed on as a co-sponsor, please urge her/him to do so at https://act.alaskawild.org/sign/co-sponsor-arctic-refuge-protection-bill to help demonstrate strong local support for protecting America’s Arctic Refuge.

Those who have cosponsored so far are: Brendon Boyle (PA-2), Matt Cartwright (PA-8), Mike Doyle (PA-18). Of course, Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) is a prime sponsor.

It is crucial we build on the momentum from the bill introduction, adding more cosponsors to this important legislation so that when the moment is right, we can get this bill passed through the House. Your representative needs to know they’ve got your support on this issue.

Send a note to urge your representative to co-sponsor H.R. 1146 to protect caribou and polar bear habitat in the Arctic Refuge.
