Eviction Moratorium Ends July 31; Urge Congress to Extend to Keep Renters Safely Housed During COVID Surge

From Housing Alliance of Pennsylvania (http://www.housingalliancepa.org/):

Yesterday, President Biden announced that he would not be extending the CDC Eviction Moratorium set to expire tomorrow, July 31st. We now need our members of Congress to act and protect the most vulnerable Pennsylvanians facing eviction. The eviction moratorium is a critical tool in diverting the landlord tenant disputes stemming from missed rent by that can rectified with Emergency Rental Assistance that is available in every community in Pennsylvania.

During the period of June 23 – July 5, a total of 186,830 PA renter households reported than an eviction was very likely or somewhat likely in the next two months.

For context, more than 116,000 evictions were filed in PA in the whole of 2019.

Go to https://housingalliancepa.org/take-action/#/89 to call your Senators and Representative TODAY and urge them to extend the federal eviction moratorium to help keep renters stably housed as the Delta variant and COVID cases surge throughout the country.
