Tell the Senate to Keep Affordable Housing and Supportive Services in Build Back Better

As you may know, Congress is currently negotiating the Build Back Better Act to scale back the original bill and only include items that can ensure it passes into law. Parts of the bill that do not make it into this scaled-back version could be repackaged into stand-alone bills that will have to wait to go through the legislative process. This means that the $300 billion proposed for affordable housing could be in jeopardy.

The House-passed Build Back Better Act includes the largest single investment in history in quality, affordable, accessible homes for the country’s lowest-income people. Proposed spending includes:

  • $25 billion to expand rental assistance to more than 300,000 households
  • $65 billion to preserve public housing for its 2.5 million residents
  • $15 billion for the national Housing Trust Fund to build and preserve over 150,000 affordable, accessible homes for households with the lowest incomes.

The fight to end homelessness cannot wait for a future bill. Please send a message to your Senators TODAY to keep affordable housing and supportive services in the Build Back Better Act.
