Tell the President No New Oil and Gas Leases on Public Lands and Waters

From the Juggernaut Project (https://juggernautproject.com/):

During the 2020 presidential campaign, Joe Biden promised he would “ban new oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters.” And while he did issue an executive order in January to temporarily pause such leases, it was temporary and has now been blocked by a judge.

Now, according to a shocking new report from the Associated Press, “approvals for companies to drill for oil and gas on U.S. public lands are on pace this year to reach their highest level since George W. Bush was president.” That’s right: The Biden administration is approving new oil and gas drilling faster than the Trump or Obama administrations.

As heat waves, floods and other extreme weather events wreak havoc and devastate our communities, it’s up to us to make sure Pres. Biden knows that continuing to allow business as usual in the oil and gas industry is completely unacceptable.

Sign the petition to Pres. Biden at https://actionnetwork.org/forms/tell-pres-biden-no-new-oil-and-gas-leases-on-public-lands-and-waters: Stop allowing new oil and gas drilling on public lands and waters.

According to the Associated Press, the Interior Department has approved more than 2,100 permits to drill on public and tribal lands since Pres. Biden took office – an average roughly 12 new permit approvals each day.

In June, during a House Natural Resources Committee hearing, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland even told a Republican member of Congress that “gas and oil production will continue well into the future and we believe that is the reality of our economy and the world we’re living in.”

But the buck stops with Pres. Biden. Add your name to the petition now if you agree that Pres. Biden must immediately follow through with his campaign promise to ban new oil and gas leasing on public lands and waters.
