From the Endangered Species Coalition (https://www.endangered.org/):

We are running out of time. Climate change is making storms like we saw in Kentucky and wildfires like we are seeing out West more frequent and devastating and threatening our ability to respond. Humans, plants, and animals are all suffering.

This is an emergency and the White House needs to act. Tell President Biden to immediately declare a climate emergency under the National Emergencies Act at https://actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-the-petition-to-president-biden-declare-a-climate-emergency.

Congress is currently working on legislation that will begin to address the root causes of warming–carbon dioxide emissions. But this compromise bill would require the Administration to open up massive swaths of land and sea to new oil exploration.

Any new onshore wind or solar projects would need to be matched by new oil drilling. New offshore wind projects would need to be met with yet more offshore drilling like that which caused the calamitous Gulf spill. This is no way to fix a crisis caused by burning fossil fuels.

Add your name to tell President Biden to act now and declare a climate emergency with NO new drilling.

The new drilling that the compromise bill calls for would jeopardize already-imperiled Cook Inlet beluga and several other species of whales, sage grouse, stellar sea lions, spectacled eiders, and countless other plants and animals. And it would continue to harm communities in Alaska and on the Gulf.

President Biden must act boldly, swiftly, and without compromise to the dirty energy industries that brought us to this point. Please add your name to ask that he declare a climate emergency now.

Thank you for your commitment to wildlife and wild places.
