Tell the PA General Assembly to Stop Playing Games with Gun Violence Reduction Bills

From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):

Politicians are playing games with our lives. We’ve felt the impact of their obstruction for years, but over the last few days, their antics came to a point of horrific consequences for all Pennsylvanians. Send a message right now to Republican leadership at https://ceasefirepa.salsalabs.org/220614HarrisburgUpdate/index.html, demanding action to end gun violence.

For years, the Republican majority has had sole control over what bills are debated and what bills get to be voted on by the full membership of the legislative body. For gun reform bills, the answer has always been no, and last week, legislators in the minority sought to do the work of all Pennsylvanians by forcing these votes into real consideration, through something called a discharge resolution. That’s when things got really ugly.

House Republicans canceled their entire legislative session last week to avoid having to vote on gun safety, and yesterday, during the House Judiciary Committee meeting, four bills that would save lives were moved out of that committee into another one, neutralizing the accountability Democratic legislators tried to create to actually get work done. It was blatant obstruction and delay.

Now, here’s the state of play: We have to pressure the Republican leaders to do right by this situation. We have to keep pushing them to be on the right side of history. Send a message right now to them, telling them that passing gun reform legislation is not a game.
