Speak Up to Help Stop Deportations

From the Interfaith Immigration Coalition (http://www.interfaithimmigration.org):

Yesterday, on the first day of Black History Month and amid a global pandemic, immigrants were deported to Haiti. Despite guidance from the Biden Administration that should have dramatically curtailed deportations, deportations are continuing at an alarming rate.

In the next few days, additional deportations of almost 1,800 individuals—including children and families—are planned to Honduras, Haiti, Cameroon, Angola, and other countries.

These deportations are not only cruel and an affront to our faith values, but they also represent a continuation of abuses, particularly against Black immigrants and asylum seekers in the U.S.

Here’s how you can help:

  1. Uplift on Social Media
Share these tweets and sample posts to highlight the experiences of Black immigrants and pressure the Biden Administration to immediately suspend deportation flights.
  2. Sign this Petition to the Biden Administration
Sign this petition to President Biden to halt imminent deportations and take steps to ensure families remain together and free in the U.S.
  3. Call the Biden Administration
Urge them to stop deportations, expulsions, transfers, and to ground ICE-air related flights during this global health crisis.

Call the following numbers:

The White House  (202-456-1111)

DHS (202-282-8495)

Speaker Pelosi (202-225-4965)

Majority Leader Schumer (202-224-6542)

Sample Script:  Hello, I am calling to demand that you stop the mass deportations of people from Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola, and Haiti. ICE transfers, deportations, and expulsion flights spread COVID-19 and put everyone at risk. You have the authority to stop all deportations now. I also urge you to halt all Title 42 expulsions, transfers, and ground all ICE-Air related flights during this global health crisis. President Biden must not return families, individuals, and children to countries experiencing violence and political instability in which their lives are endangered.
