PA General Assembly Votes to Establish a State-Based Health Insurance Marketplace

From the Pennsylvania Health Access Network (http://www.pahealthaccess.org):

Great news!  The Pennsylvania General Assembly just voted to establish a state-based health insurance marketplace on a bipartisan basis!

What does this mean for Pennsylvanians?  Here are some highlights:

Lower Premiums: the proposal is designed to reinvest state dollars in reducing premiums for plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act marketplace.  One analysis predicted premiums would go down by as much as 5-10% in the first couple years.

Building on the Success of the Affordable Care Act: this gives Pennsylvania lawmakers and officials the ability to make decisions about the marketplace that meet the needs of Pennsylvania’s diverse communities rather than relying on the Administration to make decisions on our behalf.
