Organize an Event for Science in Pennsylvania

From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):

You know this is an unprecedented moment for science. The Trump administration has worked to undermine science at every turn. Scrubbed mentions of climate change from government websites. Tried to defund critical scientific research, like the Carbon Monitoring System program at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Abandoned the Paris Climate Agreement.

And they’re about to propose a new rule which would roll back fuel economy and global warming pollution standards for vehicles—the nation’s strongest climate policy.

If just reading that makes your blood boil, you can do something to help.

This summer dozens of UCS supporters and science advocates are organizing events in their communities to call attention to attacks on science and push policymakers and candidates to protect science-based policies. We’re looking for event hosts in Pennsylvania—and we want to chat with you about it! Are you interested?

Yes! I’d love to talk with a UCS staffer to learn more about organizing an event in Pennsylvania.

No, I’m not able to host an event, but keep me informed on other ways I can help.

What does a Science Rising event look like? It could be a small potluck at your house to talk with your friends and neighbors about resisting attacks on science or a film screening followed by a discussion. Some are scheduling meetings or events with local candidates and elected officials. Others are planning discussions, based on materials we can provide, on pressing attacks on science followed by letter writing or other action.

Blanketing the country with events hosted by UCS supporters like you sends politicians and candidates a powerful message: Voters care about science, our health, and safety…and they’re ready to do something about it.

Can we count on you? Stand up for science! Host an event in your community this summer.
