Sign Interfaith Letter to Call for End to Family Detention

From UUPLAN (http://www.uuplan.com/):

We have hit an important milestone in our collective efforts to halt the inhumane detention of Central American mothers and children seeking asylum in the U.S. Just a few days ago, the Department of Homeland Security’s own hand-picked expert advisors issued a final report calling for an end to family detention. They corroborated advocates’ assessments that the practice is unnecessary for security purposes, can psychologically traumatize and re-traumatize children and parents, and that significantly lower cost appropriate alternatives are immediately available.

We feel that now is an opportune time for the religious community to make the full weight of its moral authority known.

We are seeking both individual religious leaders’ endorsements as well as institutional – congregations, denominations, communions, seminaries, faith-based organizations.

Please add your voice to the call:

Please also circulate this widely within your networks.  Our goal is at least 300 endorsements by Sunday, October 23rd.
