Help Get the Word Out on 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit Payments

We need your help! 2021 Advance Child Tax Credit Payments will be issued beginning July 15. Eligible families can receive up to $300 per month per child under age 6 and up to $250 per month for children age 6 and above. These payments can truly make a difference in the lives of families. Even those with no earned income or who don’t owe any federal income taxes can still receive the credit, if eligible. However, to receive these advance payments, they must have filed a 2019 or 2020 tax return. Unfortunately, many have not done so.

The Treasury Department and the IRS publicly committed to carrying out a sweeping public awareness campaign to reach all Americans who may be eligible for this financial assistance. As part of this public awareness campaign, the IRS, in conjunction with its community partners and volunteers, will host a series of free tax preparation events in 12 cities for individuals who are eligible for CTC, but have not filed a 2020 tax return. The next events are scheduled for July 9-10.

Philadelphia has two events on July 9th and one event on July 10th.

Please help us in getting the word out about the 2021 Advance Child Tax Payments and the availability of free tax preparation in your area. We are asking that you share this information broadly across your networks to ensure that families who can benefit from this financial assistance are aware of it and know where to get help, if needed.
