FERC Greenlights Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline

From Lancaster Against Pipelines (http://www.wearelancastercounty.org/):

As you may have heard, the Atlantic Sunrise pipeline was approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The decision was arrived at without adequate surveying and minimal actual studying of the impacts on our homes, history, families, or our environment. The last minute approval was another reminder of where the federal government stands: solidly with big business interests. At this point we do not know when construction and tree clearing will begin, but we assume that tree clearing may start at any point.

Preparations are already under way to begin an encampment in the Conestoga area to nonviolently stand against this pipeline. In the coming days, we will invite you to join us for as long as you are able — whether it’s an evening visit or several days, or longer. This is an all hands on deck moment. We will stand up to protect our homes, our families, and our futures.

Here’s what you can do right now to help:

  1. Donate or share our GoFundMe fundraiser for The Stand on Facebook: https://www.gofundme.com/thelancasterstand. Please share this link with friends and supporters.
  2. Attend our Mass Nonviolent Action 101 and 201 trainings (https://www.pachurchesadvocacy.org/event/nonviolent-mass-action-training-feb-11-12/) on the 11th and 12th. Day 1 is Saturday Feb 11th, at 5:00pm at Community Mennonite Church of Lancaster, 328 W. Orange St. Day 2 Sunday, Feb 12th from 12-4 at The Stand. More training info is available on Facebook.
  3. Please email lancasteragainstpipelines@gmail.com if you have supplies to donate to The Stand encampment, especially:
  • Large RV or Camper, to be used as offices, meeting spaces, and sleeping spaces.
  • Other camping equipment, especially that can withstand winter temperatures.
  • Large military surplus tents or other outdoor meeting structures.
  • Building supplies, including posts and cement.
  • Firewood
  1. Be on the lookout for any construction, especially tree clearing, along the pipeline route. Please email lancasteragainstpipelines@gmail.com if you witness any construction or tree clearing along the pipeline route.
  2. Most importantly – be on the lookout for our upcoming Action Alert requesting your presence in Conestoga. This could come as early as the beginning of this coming week.

Together we will stop this pipeline for our homes, families, and future generations.
