Be a Grassroots Co-Signer for the Get Foreign Money Out of US Elections Act

From the Coalition on Human Needs (http://www.chn.org):

The disastrous 5-4 Citizens United Supreme Court decision over a decade ago opened the floodgates to corporate money in politics. But it’s not just U.S. money that’s being used to influence our elections.

For-profit U.S. corporations that are owned by foreign investors are pouring unlimited cash into American elections.

Now, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has introduced the Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act to close this dangerous Citizens United loophole. Go to https://actionnetwork.org/forms/tell-congress-get-foreign-money-out-of-us-elections-close-the-citizens-united-loophole to become a grassroots co-signer and demand Congress safeguard our democracy!

While election law prohibits foreign nationals from spending money in U.S. elections, no law bars political spending by American-registered corporations—including large multinationals that are foreign-owned, foreign-controlled, or foreign-influenced. The Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act would prevent this foreign spending and ensure that the ultimate origin of money spent in American political campaigns is from U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents.

“The Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act will stop this dangerous stream of foreign cash and influence from flowing in our campaigns through corporate spending. It’s imperative to fortify our electoral institutions against constant efforts by plutocrats and autocrats to shape political outcomes in America.” –Jamie Raskin

Become a grassroots co-signer today of Jamie Raskin’s Get Foreign Money Out of U.S. Elections Act and protect our democracy against foreign money and influence.

Thank you for taking action today to protect the sanctity of our elections and ensure the voices of everyday Americans continue to be heard at the ballot box.
