Act Now to Protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

From Creation Justice Ministries (http://www.creationjustice.org/):

During Earth Month, the Creation Justice community is engaging in prayer and action to protect God’s creatures. Today, please stand with the Gwich’in people of Alaska, who are advocating to save God’s creatures, and their entire ecosystem, from oil drilling.

In a few short weeks, representatives of the Gwich’in people of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge will travel to Washington, DC to call on Congress and the President to protect their home. Their struggle has been decades-long, and this year, we have an unprecedented opportunity to stand with the Gwich’in and protect their home forever. However, without strong nationwide support, this cause cannot reach the top of decision-makers’ agenda. We need your help.

Act now at http://action.creationjustice.org/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=16905.

Protecting the home of the Gwich’in is important to faith communities not only because it is a matter of justice, but also because the threatened area is considered holy, or as the Gwich’in say, it is “the sacred place where life begins.” It is the birthing ground of the porcupine caribou, on which the Gwich’in rely for sustenance. The porcupine caribou are so central to the Gwich’in way of life that there is a myth about how the Gwich’in people and the porcupine caribou share a piece of each other’s hearts. Please act to honor the interconnectedness of all life.
