Urge Congress to Pass a Simple Extension of the Federal Unemployment Insurance Program

From Interfaith Worker Justice (http://www.iwj.org):

This week the House of Reps. voted to pass HR 3630 (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h112-3630), the misleadingly named Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act. Now it goes to the Senate. The bill extends the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance, but it creates all kinds of new requirements and cuts benefits by 40 weeks. The number of long-term unemployed people is rising. We can’t let this horrible bill pass.

Please go to http://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/1035/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=9003 to send an email to Senators Casey and Toomey telling them to vote NO on slashing unemployment insurance for 2 million American workers.

Then, pick up the phone and call them toll-free at 888-245-3381. Alternatively, you may call directly using information found at the following locations:

Millions of Americans are unemployed for one reason: Not enough jobs to go around. We can’t let them down.

One Response to Urge Congress to Pass a Simple Extension of the Federal Unemployment Insurance Program

  1. Kenneth Trauger says:

People are unemployed. People can not find employment. So extend the unemployment bill now. If the unemployed live with out government income it affects the entire family and changes all of their futures that will frequently end up in more government support for illness, less education skills and/or poverty. So now avoid these future sadness and provide income to the unemployed.
