  • On average, 5 Philadelphians are killed by guns each week.
  • More than 30,000 people are killed by guns in the U.S. every year.
  • Guns find their way onto our neighborhood streets when someone buys guns for another person illegally. This “straw purchase” is what we seek to shut down.

Stop Straw Purchasing: Stand Against Illegal Guns

Wednesday, September 21 – late afternoon

 

  • 4:00 – Gather, Remember and Pray at the site of one of almost 200 Philadelphia gun deaths this year at 1600 Catharine Street – 2 blocks west of Broad and 3 blocks south of South.
  • 4:30 – Process to Dilworth Plaza, 15th and JFK carrying t-shirts symbolizing each life lost to guns this year.
  • 5:15 – Public Witness and Prayer at Dilworth Plaza, 15th and JFK.

1600 Catharine is located between the Lombard/South and Ellsworth/Federal Broad Street Subway stops.
