A colleague, Carl Magruder, from the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Programs shares the following:
One of my favorite parts of the Bible is where Jesus says of little children, “It is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” (Matthew 19:14) I feel the innocence and nearness of God’s care in my own children, and in the children in my Sunday school class. But studies show that children and even babies in their mothers’ wombs are susceptible to industrial chemical contamination.
I am writing to ask you if you would consider showing our excellent DVD resource, Caring for Children, Caring for Creation, at an adult education session in your church. The video provides a compelling basis for a conversation about Creation care as it relates to our love of our children. If participants are so moved, they can sign onto our Christian Principles for a Healthy Body and Spirit (http://www.nccecojustice.org/ehprinciples.html), helping us to represent their concerns on Capitol Hill. As Christians, we believe in love of neighbor, yet pollution disproportionately affects poor people and people of color. You can take action to protect all of God’s children.
