Sign Petition: Tell PA Legislators We Won’t Tolerate Attacks on Our Right to Vote

From Common Cause (http://www.commoncause.org):

The Supreme Court of the United States decided against hearing three cases that would disqualify over 10,000 Pennsylvania ballots — meaning they won’t be second-guessing some of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s major pro-voter decisions.

In the months before the election, Common Cause Pennsylvania and our partners fought for an extended deadline for mail-in and absentee ballots — an absolutely necessary reform amidst postal service slowdowns and processing delays, and one that was approved by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court before the election.

That should’ve been the end of it, but partisan politicians have spent months attempting to overturn our election, throw out lawfully-cast ballots, and strip Pennsylvanians of our right to vote — all because they didn’t like the results of our free, fair election.

That’s why the Supreme Court’s decision last night to count all of these mail-in and absentee ballots was so crucial — and it’s why we must continue to put pressure on our Legislature to put voting rights front-and-center this year.

ADD MY NAME at https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/pennsylvanians-will-not-tolerate-efforts-to-undermine-our-right-to-vote/: Our legislators should focus on making future elections more secure and accessible, rather than rolling back Pennsylvanians’ right to participate in our democracy.

We should want more Pennsylvanians to vote, not less. But since the November election, threats to our elections have taken hold in Pennsylvania.

First, partisan actors spent months spreading conspiracy theories, inflammatory allegations, and false claims about the integrity of our election — which we know was among the most safe and secure in Pennsylvania’s history.

Then, our lawmakers spent almost $2,000,000 in taxpayer money on meritless lawsuits against our election officials or to overturn our Electoral College results — which were quickly thrown out of court.

And now, they’ve started devising plans to roll back our right to vote in future elections instead — pushing legislation that would add needlessly strict ID requirements for absentee voting, make it easier to invalidate absentee ballots, and even eliminate mail-in voting entirely.

That’s unacceptable, and our lawmakers need to know that Pennsylvanians will not tolerate their efforts to undermine our right to vote. Will you join our fight?
