Urge Our Senators to Pass Non-Discrimination Protections for LGBTQ Persons

From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):

Rabbi Jared H. Saks serves as the spiritual leader of Congregation Bet Ha’am in Maine. As a child, his family would take long road trips across the country playing games like license plate bingo and “I Spy.” Now when he travels with his husband, son and dog, they play a different game as they cross borders into a new state: “Are We Protected Here?”

As the Faithful Majority, we know faith and LGBTQ+ equality are not mutually exclusive. Yesterday afternoon, I gathered with faith leaders, including Rabbi Saks, from across the country to set the record straight at our Faithful Majority Rally! The vast majority of religious Americans – 69 percent, according to a new polling analysis – support non-discrimination protections that would protect LGBTQ+ people in jobs, public accommodations, and housing.

That is why we invite you to call your Senators today at https://www.faithinpubliclife.org/faithful-majority-wants-lgbtq-protections/#action and demand they pass non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people!

Right now, 29 states still do not have laws to explicitly protect LGBTQ people from discrimination. Without federal protections, people are vulnerable to being evicted from their homes, kicked out of a business that’s open to the public, denied health care, or denied government services because of who they are. This is a slap in the face to their God-given dignity. To fight back, courageous religious leaders are stepping forward to make the moral argument for LGBTQ rights. We need you to join this moral movement and speak out!

Join the Faithful Majority in calling on the Senate to pass non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people. Make your calls today and help advance our faithful advocacy for LGBTQ equality!

We need to continue boldly putting our beliefs, values and faith into action, to demand change and be active participants in bending the arc of the moral universe.
