Urge PA Senators to Protect Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from Dirty Oil Development

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

This month was more proof that drilling means spilling. A gas pipeline supporting offshore drilling platforms in Cook Inlet, Alaska has been leaking into the ocean for over two months now. Even without a deadline for repairs, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) heedlessly pressed forward with new tactics to bring Big Oil into caribou calving and polar bear denning grounds of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

She just sent a message to Senators Casey and Toomey, urging them not to co-sponsor Wilderness legislation to keep the Refuge safe from Big Oil. Instead, she asked for support in opening this wildlife nursery to “responsible” oil development.

Please urge our senators not to be intimidated at http://act.alaskawild.org/sign/2017_rejectmurkrefugeletter. They should stand up for this special American treasure.

The truth is, there’s no “responsible” development in such a culturally and environmentally important landscape as the Arctic Refuge, and that’s why many Alaskans testified just last month to keep it safe.

Next week, citizens from across the country will visit Senate offices with our staff to share the truth about Senator Murkowski’s letter. We’ll also include signatures from voters like you to show that folks from states like Pennsylvania know better than to trust Big Oil and its allies with our public lands.

Urge our senators to protect America’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from any type of dirty oil development. We know how it always ends.

Senators: Don’t side with Big Oil! Protect the Arctic Refuge!
