Urge Congress to Increase Homelessness Funding in FY 22

From the National Alliance to End Homelessness (http://www.endhomelessness.org):

The House Appropriations subcommittee is creating its version of the HUD spending bill starting next Monday. It will have a major impact on homelessness funds. And that means it’s essential they hear from you this week at https://endhomelessness.org/actions/urge-congress-to-increase-homelessness-funding-in-fy22/.

WHAT WE ARE ASKING

The Alliance is calling on Congress to increase funding for HUD’s homeless assistance programs to $3.5 billion for Fiscal Year 2022, as President Biden requested. This program creates a strong foundation for locally managed homeless systems across the country to house the most vulnerable in their communities and provide support services people need to stay housed.

WHY NOW?

Last year, Congress allocated $3.0 billion in its regular spending bill. That’s an increase, but it’s just not enough to accommodate the growing number of people becoming homeless each year due to rising rents.

However, if House appropriators make a real commitment, we’ll have the best shot at getting the resources we need in the final budget. This $3.5 billion ask is also the amount that the Administration asked Congress to fund.

Will you help us?
