From the Clean Air Council (http://www.cleanair.org/):
In a major milestone, Governor Wolf announced that his administration will finalize permits to cut air pollution from new or expanding natural gas operations. These important permits, known officially as GP-5 and GP-5A, will reduce emissions of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and volatile organic compounds, which cause significant health risks to all Pennsylvania communities.
Thank Governor Wolf now at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/51176/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=25057!
Just weeks ago, Clean Air Council members and citizens from across Pennsylvania stood on the steps of our State Capitol building and demanded action to protect our health. Over 20,000 letters, comments, and petition signatures that had been collected over two years were delivered to the Governor. By supporting our events and taking action online, you have truly made a difference.
But the work isn’t over yet! Governor Wolf’s action will cut methane for new natural gas operations only. Over 1.5 million Pennsylvanians live within a half mile of existing natural gas production, and their health and safety continue to be threatened today. Governor Wolf is making progress on his commitment to protect all Pennsylvanians from the harms of methane pollution, but he must now extend that progress to include standards that would cover methane pollution from existing oil and gas sites.
