From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

You did it! Thanks to supporters like you around Harrisburg, Senator Casey has signed on to support Wilderness protections for caribou and polar bear birthing grounds in the Arctic Refuge.

Senator Casey’s support came right after meetings in their offices with Pennsylvania and Alaska leaders during our Wilderness Week in DC (NOTE: Council staff participated in the meeting). They shared your signatures and why protecting the Refuge is important to so many people. Please call to say “Thank you”—find suggested words and contact information at http://act.alaskawild.org/call/thank-casey-standing-polar-bears/!

For the first time, the entire Democratic delegation from Pennsylvania has signed on to protect the Arctic Refuge! And, with a record number of senators signed on to the bill in support of the Refuge, we are that much closer to protecting one of the most amazing wilderness areas in the United States.

Please take a minute to thank Senator Casey for standing up for this incredible wild nursery to not just polar bears and caribou, but millions of migratory birds. Your call is one of the most important things you can do to ensure that Senator Casey continues his work to protect the Refuge in the future.

The timing is perfect! Birds who both spent the winter with us in Pennsylvania and recently migrated through our state are just reaching the Arctic Refuge. They will spend the summer raising their young and munching on its abundant plants and insects. These birds remind us that we are very much connected to the Arctic Refuge even though we may be geographically far away.
