Thank the President for Commitment to Rein in Ghost Guns

We have huge news to share. President Biden took action today, after months of preparation, to rein in the danger of ghost guns in communities across Pennsylvania and across the nation. 

Ghost guns, which are easily assembled and purchased and can be sold in ways that conceal violent crime from future investigation, are a rapidly growing threat to public safety. This announcement is a huge step forward and will save many lives, but there is more work to be done to create a Pennsylvania where all can live free from gun violence.

This new rule will require that these weapons have serial numbers, and requires the purchaser to pass a background check. It also requires ghost gun manufacturers and sellers to be licensed by the federal government, and creates a plan to add serial numbers to ghost guns already in circulation. “Ghost guns destroy lives just like a regular firearm. But for too long, a legal loophole allowed abusers, criminals, and violent Pennsylvanians to buy one without any of the safeguards we rely on.
