Tell Gov. Wolf to Fight Attack on Clean Car Standards

From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):

We saw it coming and now it’s happened: Not able to get what it wanted, the administration has basically flipped over the negotiating table. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) just finalized a rule to revoke California’s authority to set their own clean car standards, which states like PA had adopted as their own.

This seems to be a retaliatory move from the president in response to the state of California and four major automakers agreeing to their own deal on vehicle standards following the administration’s failure to do so itself. We need to hold the administration accountable.

Write today at https://secure.ucsusa.org/onlineactions/yaLK-3zFSE2nlpAbTpdsLQ2 and tell Governor Tom Wolf to oppose this reckless attack on clean air.

Why does this matter?

The Trump administration is in the process of rolling back existing federal clean car standards, the single most effective piece of climate legislation on the books, and the ability to adopt stronger standards through California’s authority was one of our last lines of defense.

Since 1970, California has been able to set stronger emissions standards than those at the federal level because of their dangerous levels of air pollution. Today, 13 states and the District of Columbia have adopted California’s standards, making up 35 percent of annual vehicle sales in the United States, and more could join down the line—unless the Trump administration gets its way.

Tell Governor Wolf to defend PA’s right to clean air and a healthier climate.

Not only is President Trump throwing us in reverse on federal climate policy, he is preventing states from stepping up and acting on climate independently. This abdication of leadership will do lasting damage to our planet, to public health, to our pocketbooks, and to innovation in the auto industry.

Help protect the right to enact strong clean car standards by urging your governor to take action today.
