Send a Message to Governor Wolf re: Actions to Address the COVID-19 Crisis

From the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center (http://www.pennbpc.org):

The People and the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center have joined with more than 30 other groups to demand immediate action on the part of Governor Wolf and the General Assembly to address the COVID-19 crisis.

Would you use the tool at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/demand-immediate-action-on-the-response-to-covid-19 to send a letter to Governor Wolf and state legislators to support this effort?

Our goals are spelled out in detail at the link. In brief, we are calling on our political leader to:

  • Give everyone, especially those with low incomes and local businesses, economic relief from the impact of the policies of business closure and social distancing necessary to contain the spread of the virus.
  • Ensure that there are no economic barriers preventing anyone from securing health care to protect themselves and the rest of us from the virus.
  • Protect front-line workers who are bearing the brunt of providing health care and relief from economic distress.
  • Protect our democracy and rights by delaying the primary election, sending everyone mail-in ballots for both the primary and general elections.

Would you join us by clicking here to send a letter to Governor Wolf and your state legislator?

Our health care system and economy as a whole are under enormous stress—not just from the virus, but also from the business closure policies and social distancing we must all embrace to limit its spread. We must ensure that the burdens of COVID-19 fall on us all equally and not mainly on those people with low and middle incomes, the elderly, people who are Black and brown, women, and those who are ill or disabled.

Ensuring that everyone can get health care and relieving the economic stress of those who are suffering the most is not just a matter of justice to those who bear greater burdens, it is a necessary part of protecting everyone’s health and enabling our economy to recover when the crisis is over

Please take action today to tell Governor Wolf and our state legislators to address these concerns.

Thanks for all you are doing at this difficult time.

The list of details draws from the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center policy brief in response to COVID-19, the American Working Families Relief Action Plan, and the letter titled “It’s Time to Take Care of All of Us” from a number of groups led by Pittsburgh United and PA United.
