Tell Your Representative to Vote for the Scientific Integrity Act

From suppressing a report on the risks of formaldehyde exposure to misrepresenting research on the effects of fracking on drinking water sources, political interference in science can have serious consequences for the health and safety of the public.

The Scientific Integrity Act offers common-sense solutions to political interference in science and, thanks to the work of UCS supporters, the bill has 229 cosponsors and was voted out of committee with bipartisan support.

The House of Representatives is set to vote on this good government bill any day now. Urge your Representative to vote for the Scientific Integrity Act (H.R. 1709) today at https://secure.ucsusa.org/onlineactions/xwqJIcMu_0qarS1JrkYnzw2.

Federal scientists are depending on provisions in this bill to put an end to political interference in science. Without it, we risk continued inaction on climate change, drinking water contamination, and countless other health and safety issues.

We need to show widespread public support to make sure that the Scientific Integrity Act passes the House of Representatives.

The Scientific Integrity Act would protect scientists and their work from political games. It would allow scientists to pursue their research freely and prevent more attacks on science, leading to better policies across the board needed to protect public health and safety.
