Tell Your Representative to Support the Background Checks Act

From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):

It’s been 27 years since the federal government passed common-sense gun control legislation. And in those 27 years, we’ve seen countless instances of tragedy and heartbreak throughout our communities due to gun violence.

But this week we’re on the brink of major federal gun safety action. H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, is set to leave committee and receive a floor vote in the House as early as this week.

This bill would require background checks on all gun sales, which would mean keeping deadly weapons out of the hands of people intent on committing violence with a firearm. The House is expected to vote on this bill any day now — make sure your Representative will vote YES on H.R. 8. Act now at https://ceasefirepa.salsalabs.org/hr8targetedaction392021/index.html.

Representatives across Pennsylvania and across the aisle have signed on to support this legislation. Rep. Fitzpatrick [R-PA-1] is one of only three House Republicans to have cosponsored the bill. We can’t let dissenting voices distract from the unifying nature of gun safety legislation.

With a bipartisan group of Representatives supporting universal background checks, we must ensure the House retains this majority and passes H.R. 8. With a vote happening soon, the time to take action is now.
