Tell Our Senators to Support the Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment Act

International Overdose Awareness Day happened this week. If you or someone you know has been touched by the overdose crisis, we see you, and we want you to know that you are not alone.

We all want to live long, fulfilling lives surrounded by those we love, whether we are Black, white, or brown, from big cities or small towns.

Unfortunately, thanks in part to greedy politicians in the pockets of pharmaceutical lobbyists and private prisons, more 108,000 of our loved ones have died this year from preventable drug overdoses.

It doesn’t have to be this way. This year, we are moving from awareness to action. The Mainstreaming Addiction Treatment Act or MAT Act would help to remove the barriers that prevent health care practitioners from being able to prescribe medication to treat opioid use disorder.

Your senators from Pennsylvania have the opportunity to help advance the MAT Act by becoming bill co-sponsors and beginning to curb the overdose crisis. The best thing you can do to honor those who have been lost to preventable overdoses is demand our senators support this bill at https://peoplesaction.org/support-the-mat-act/.

Awareness is necessary, but action will get the change we need to keep ourselves and our loved ones safe from the overdose crisis. Join us and tell your elected officials to support the MAT Act.
