Tell Our Senators to Support the Build Back Better Plan

From Americans for Tax Fairness (https://americansfortaxfairness.org/):

It’s critical that our senators hear from you today. Budget reconciliation gives us the opportunity to make big, bold investments in healthcare, eldercare, childcare, education, housing, Child Tax Credit expansion, clean energy, paid family leave, and more.

It’s also our chance to undo the Trump tax scam, unrig our tax code for working families, and build an economy that rewards work, not wealth.

Some senators think we “can’t afford” big, bold investments in working families. But 55 Fortune 500 companies paid $0 in federal income taxes last year [1], and billionaires got 60% ($1.8 trillion) richer during the pandemic [2]. Tell them that when the wealthy and corporations pay their fair share in taxes, working people will benefit a lot!

Here’s a suggested call script to support President Biden’s Build Back Better Plan:

Hello, my name is _______ and I live in ___________. I urge the senator to support a budget that raises at least $4 trillion by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share of taxes.

Congress should use that money to ease the burden of the high costs of healthcare, childcare, eldercare, college, housing and other needs of working families.

President Biden’s Build Back Better Plan will do that by rewarding work not wealth. It will be paid for by making big corporations and those earning over $400,000 pay their fair share.

It won’t raise taxes on those earning under $400,000.

Polls show this agenda is overwhelmingly supported by the public.

Please share my thoughts with the senator and urge them to make $4 trillion in new investments, paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share in taxes.

Thank you, and see you on the phone lines!
