From Faith in Public Life (http://www.faithinpubliclife.org):
Every person is created in the image of God. As Pride month wraps up, we celebrate the divine dignity and joy of every LGBTQ+ person: God sees you and loves you.
But we know that we still need justice. Nearly 2 out of 3 LGBTQ Americans report that they’ve experienced discrimination. In 29 states around the country, there are no comprehensive protections for LGBTQ people. This is a moral travesty.
Go to https://fpl.actionkit.com/letter/senate-eq-act-pride-mo to tell our Senators TODAY that LGBTQ lives are sacred and that they must pass the Equality Act! It’s past time to write LGBTQ dignity into law.
The Equality Act sets a moral standard for our nation. It ensures that no one can be turned away from a homeless shelter, denied a meal at a food bank, or refused disaster relief services simply because of who they are. It ensures that all of us, regardless of our sexual orientation or gender identity, are protected from discrimination in employment, health care and housing, instead of potentially losing equal rights when they cross state lines.
We pray Congress understands that they will serve justice without harming religious freedom when they pass the Equality Act. It is a matter of dignity and justice.
