Tell Our Senators We Need a Federal Assault Weapons Ban

From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):

As you flip through the pages of a calendar, you could put a tragic anniversary on almost every single day. That’s not normal, but it has been normalized here in Pennsylvania and all across the country. Yesterday was the anniversary of the El Paso shooting, and today is the anniversary of the Dayton mass shooting. This year alone, we’ve already had 391 mass shooting events, seventeen of which happened right here in Pennsylvania. That’s an average of almost two mass shootings per day, every day, for the foreseeable future.

Assault weapons ban would reverse this horrific trend. And it’s more likely than ever to happen after passing the US House of Representatives with bipartisan support.

We’re one vote away from saving lives. Write a quick message to Senator Casey and Senator Toomey at https://act.ceasefirepa.org/a/assault-weapons-ban-fed-em220804 to make sure they know where you stand.

For an assault weapons ban proposal, we have the unique opportunity of a lot of data to back it up. We used to have an assault weapons ban, and in the years since it was repealed, we’ve all experienced the steep, upward trend of carnage. At movie theaters. At the grocery store. At places of worship. In elementary schools. Both the research nationally and a comparative analysis between states with this law and states without it prove that an assault weapons ban will make us all safer. Researchers estimate that if we still had a federal Assault Weapon Ban, we’d see 70% fewer mass shooting deaths.

Make your voice heard. We have to get this bill passed, now, before you or someone you love dies next.

In the last few months, we’ve made major steps towards ending this crisis. Let’s take the next one today.
