Tell Your PA Lawmakers to Oppose Permitless Concealed Carry

From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):

Road rage shootings are a looming crisis in our communities, and it’s being made even worse by the growing potential for concealed permitless carry in Pennsylvania. Go to https://act.ceasefirepa.org/a/oppose-permitless-carry-pa to let your lawmaker know you oppose this legislation.

Let me explain where things currently stand. As Everytown for Gun Safety has investigated, the numbers are rising, and that means that every one of us, when we hit the road, could be putting ourselves in danger. They write, “In 2021, gun homicides and non-suicide-related shootings took approximately 20,700 lives—a 6 percent increase from the first year of the pandemic in 2020, which already saw a significant increase in gun violence over 2019.” According to the research compiled by Everytown, we’re at a six-year high of these types of incidents, and they’re happening right here in Pennsylvania1.

These aren’t just numbers. A quick google search will find countless acts of gun violence on the road, all over the country, including right here in Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia2, Springfield3, Upper Darby4, West Chester5, La Plume Township6, and more. The fact of the matter is we will all likely encounter aggressive driving, but when guns are present, the situation becomes deadly quickly.

Here’s where things get even worse. A concealed permitless carry bill, which was vetoed by Governor Wolf last year, could be reintroduced and passed next legislative session, if we don’t mobilize now. States with concealed permitless carry have  11% higher gun homicide rates overall.

Click here to make sure your lawmaker knows exactly where you stand. We cannot allow concealed permitless carry to become law in Pennsylvania.

I am adamantly opposed to a concealed permitless carry bill. I hope you are, too.
    Thank you.
