Tell the PA General Assembly to Oppose Lifeline Scholarships—Another Voucher Program

From Children First (http://www.childrenfirstpa.org):

The legislature wants to give your tax dollars to private schools. ACT NOW TO STOP THAT.

This week, state lawmakers moved a bill that would give state dollars intended for public education directly to parents who choose to send their children to private school.

This is a terrible idea!  It is a direct hit on the public schools that are already cash strapped and educate the most at-risk students in the state.

These public schools will not be able to weather the $170 MILLION hole in their budgets created by this scheme to subsidize private schools.

Tell your state senator and representative to oppose Lifeline Scholarships (HB 2169/SB 1050). HB 2169 was sent to the House Appropriations Committee this week so NOW is the time to take action. Act NOW at https://secure.everyaction.com/1Q_AznSmBEWy6X8mej3d8A2.

The champion of this bad idea is a lawmaker whose rural district doesn’t have a single family that needs or can benefit from this horrible idea.

Something is not right!

Why would this rural lawmaker lead the charge for a measure that does nothing for the children he is elected to represent?

Because a very conservative think tank has hijacked the legislative process and convinced the Republican leaders that dismantling public schools makes sense. They seem to think that because some parents are mad about masking, everyone is anti-public school.

But we know that’s not true!

You can help stop this right now!

Act now and tell your state senator and representative to oppose Lifeline Scholarships (HB 2169/SB 1050).

This measure is simply private school vouchers with a slightly sweeter name.  Don’t be fooled, “Lifeline Scholarships”, will be a death knell for public education.  Find out here why they’re not so sweet.
