From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt recently announced a plan to roll back the Clean Power Plan—standards that help combat climate change by setting first-ever limits on carbon pollution from power plants.
Climate change is fueling more severe and destructive extreme weather events that threaten our communities. Instead of taking steps to address one of the most significant problems facing humankind, the Trump administration is continuing its dangerous pattern of putting ideology over science.
The repeal of the Clean Power Plan is a blatant attempt to pander to fossil fuel interests and stop climate action. The proposal devalues the health and economic benefits of this standard by using faulty legal arguments and crooked math.
The American public deserves safeguards that are based on strong, independent science and economics to help protect our health and safety. We need the EPA to strengthen safeguards that address climate change, not tear them down.
