Let EPA Know You Oppose Weakening the Clean Power Plan

From Interfaith Power and Light (http://interfaithpowerandlight.org):

As a person of faith, we are called to live out our love for the sacred and for our neighbors through our advocacy to protect the earth upon which we all depend.

In 2017, the Trump administration announced the repeal of the Clean Power Plan-a plan to address global warming that would have set the first-ever national limits on carbon pollution-and last month EPA Administrator and former coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler unveiled their replacement plan. As we expected, it favors fossil fuel energy instead of renewables —  it’s really a Dirty Power Plan.

Go to http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/50836/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=25492 to send a message to the EPA that you oppose any weakening or replacement of the Clean Power Plan and specifically this Dirty Power Plan.

The EPA’s own estimates acknowledge that the new plan is likely to cause up to 1,400 more premature deaths a year from pollution-related illnesses. Unbelievably, this proposed replacement for the Clean Power Plan would not only increase dangerous climate pollution and cost American lives—it would actually be worse than doing nothing at all in many states.

At a time when we are seeing the increased impacts of climate disasters-severe storms, hurricanes, flooding, drought, and wildfires-we know that the need to act is more urgent than ever. The replacement rule puts polluters before families and communities, the very neighbors we are called to serve and love.

We need the faith community to speak up and strongly oppose the EPA’s Dirty Power Plan on behalf of Earth and all of its inhabitants.
