Urge Harrisburg and DC Officials to Prioritize Child Care in Next Round of COVID-19 Relief

From Moms Rising (https://www.momsrising.org/):

Child care is a collective responsibility and a public good.

Like clean water, safe food, and good public schools, high quality, affordable child care is a shared priority that benefits everyone. We need to ensure that all children, families, and communities can thrive—and we have the ability to do that by coming together to fund child care.

Join us at https://action.momsrising.org/sign/PA_childcare_matters to tell Pennsylvania leaders in Harrisburg and Washington, D.C. to prioritize child care in the next round of COVID-19 relief!

It takes just a moment. We’re sending the following message:

Child care is at a critical moment in our nation, and here in Pennsylvania. As we reopen and you consider the next round of COVID-19 relief, remember: prioritizing child care is a MUST! There is no real economic recovery if parents and caregivers can’t get back to work.

Click here to add your name now, and a personal message if you choose, too.

We’ll deliver the message to Pennsylvania leaders in the coming days, and need to make as much noise as possible.

Consider these facts:

In the United States, around one in five (19.6%) of working-age adults said the reason they were not working was because COVID-19 disrupted their child care arrangements. Of those not working, women ages 25-44 are almost three times as likely as men to not be working due to child care demands. (1)

The U.S. economy lost 140,000 jobs in December, and all of them were held by women (in particular women of color). (2)

Join us to let leaders know the time to act is now!
