Tell Congress to Abolish ICE

From the American Friends Service Committee (http://www.afsc.org):

All people have the right to live without fear—and to have their human rights respected. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) makes all of us less safe, and it’s time we put an end to its cruelty once and for all.

ICE has been in the news a lot lately—detaining immigrant children, going after workers just trying to support their families, and showing no mercy for people who have known no other home but the U.S. for decades.

This federal agency has a long history of separating families and terrorizing our communities. And it is time to stop its abuses. Every member of our community deserves to be treated humanely.

ICE has a history of human rights violations dating back to its inception in 2003—from deliberately separating families to engaging in racial profiling to conducting warrantless searches. Since last October, at least six people have died in ICE custody. The agency has also been the subject of more than 1,200 complaints of sexual and physical abuse.

And until now, ICE has remained unaccountable—to Congress, to the courts, and to our communities. Its very mission is at odds with values we hold dear – like treating all people with dignity and respect.

By adding your name, you are joining a powerful force of people demanding that our elected officals take immediate steps to abolish ICE!

YOU can be part of the change that abolishes ICE for good. Stopping human rights violations starts with every one of us! Don’t remain silent.

Sign our petition to Congress to end the inhumane treatment of immigrants!
