Tell Congress to Put Arctic Refuge Protections Back in Place Now

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

All who attended the recent Rally for the Refuge raised their voices at exactly the right moment! On the same day that so many took to the internet to keep oil drilling out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, we learned that an Alaskan agency intends to undertake winter seismic exploration as early as THIS YEAR.

Congress and the Biden administration need to act, and now’s the time to ramp up the pressure even more! Send a message at https://secure.everyaction.com/OXibf-xw0UOE47pCr7dKTA2 telling Congress to put protections in place before it’s too late!

At the rally, Bernadette Demientieff of the Gwich’in Steering Committee, Representative Jared Huffman of California, and so many other speakers conveyed the importance of this incredibly special landscape. Most importantly, many made calls to Congress urging members to get moving and put Arctic Refuge protections back in place ASAP.

Now, with more pressure to drill mounting, can you build on the rally phone with calls to make sure Congress acts? Send a follow up email to your members of Congress and tell them to take legislative action to protect the Arctic Refuge today.

The Biden administration bought us time to keep oil drills out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge when it suspended all oil and gas leases issued there. But, as the state of Alaska’s latest actions to push drilling forward demonstrate, our time to protect the Arctic Refuge for good is running out. The law still requires a second lease sale to be held and only Congress can change that law. Your pressure can help stop a second lease sale before it’s too late.
