Tell Congress: No New Arms Race

From the Union of Concerned Scientists (http://www.ucsusa.org):

President Trump is seeking to undo decades of successful efforts to reduce the nuclear threat. Last week, he announced that the United States is preparing to withdraw from President Reagan’s 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty, which globally eliminated all land-based mid-range US and Russian missiles.

This comes on top of the president’s withdrawal from the international agreement stopping Iran’s nuclear program and his earlier attacks on New START (Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty), President Obama’s 2010 treaty that limits long-range US and Russian nuclear weapons and puts in place strict monitoring to verify these limits.

Abandoning these agreements threatens to start a new arms race.

Your senators must do all they can to protect arms control treaties and prevent President Trump from starting a new arms race. Write your senators today at https://secure.ucsusa.org/onlineactions/KGr7W2Yz4kuL87MOJ9Dhrw2 and urge them to speak out and demand the administration not withdraw from the INF Treaty. In addition, tell them to push the president not to attack New START, but to extend the treaty, which is scheduled to expire in 2021.
