From Moms Rising (https://www.momsrising.org/):

Right now, U.S. members of Congress are discussing year end budget negotiations, which will be voted on in the coming weeks — and we need your help to stop some terrible things.  The administration wants to use your tax dollars to finance its destructive anti-immigrant agenda in the government’s fiscal year 2018 budget, all while continuously proposing devastating cuts to health, education, and other essential programs that are critical to healthy, thriving families and communities.  It’s outrageous.

We can stop this! Are you able to quickly drop by the local office of your member of Congress, before December 21, to deliver a fact sheet? Let us know by going to https://action.momsrising.org/survey/Immigration_CR_drop_off and we’ll email everything you need to find your local office and make a powerful impact.

Thanks to the advocacy of people like you, Congress put a halt on the administration’s prior destructive request for $1 billion of additional funding for immigration enforcement in a short term spending bill in September! [1] [2] Now Congress must take the next step and say, ”No!” to further funding expansion in the end of the year spending negotiations! [3] [4]

Our tax dollars should be used to improve our schools, childcare, and health care, not to finance the Trump administration’s heartless anti-immigrant policies. For example, Congress could use the 5 billion dollars requested for a “wall” to instead fund a 30% increase in federal aid for K-12 public schools. [5] Congress should focus our government spending on programs that lift children and families and must act as a check on cruel anti-immigrant policies, starting with this budget.

Can you help us out by dropping by the local office of your member of Congress? It’s easy! Just let us know, then we will email you all the information you’ll need to find your local office and do the drop off.

There’s no time to waste. Congress must stop rewarding Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), for separating children and families, tear gassing toddlers, and abhorrent detention conditions; and instead reduce immigration detention funding, exert oversight over detention practices, and direct the administration to restore less costly, more efficient, and humane community-based alternatives to detention.

Please sign up to make an in-district delivery to bring the voices of parents straight to Congressional offices.

Your member of Congress needs to hear from you. Let them know that we all do better when everyone has the opportunity to succeed, which means investing in strong families and communities by using tax dollars to support critical education, housing, nutrition, and health care programs.

The more people who make their voices heard, the bigger impact we can have. Please take a moment to forward this email to your friends and family and post this link on your Facebook and Twitter accounts: https://action.momsrising.org/survey/Immigration_CR_drop_off/.

Thank you for all you do. Together, we are a powerful voice for families!
