Tell Congress We Must Invest in Our Future Now

From Clean Water Action (http://www.cleanwateraction.org/):

The climate crisis is here, knocking down our door. It’s telling us that we have to act now before it’s too late. If we don’t, we’ll experience extreme devastation and loss that we simply won’t be able to simply go back and fix.

Climate impacts have already cost us so much. Extreme weather events, wildfires, and flooding cost us billions of dollars in damages every year and a loss of life and impacts on livelihoods that cannot be quantified. Low-income communities and communities of color are the hardest hit.

We need to do better. We need to ensure a healthy and livable future for all. Congress has the opportunity to pass legislation to make one of the largest climate investments in history. But they need to hear from you. Contact your Representative and Senator at https://cleanwater.salsalabs.org/tell-congress-invest-now-2022/index.html and urge them to act now.

In December 2021, the U.S. House of Representatives voted for more than $500 billion in climate and environmental investments as part of the Build Back Better Act, but it was stalled in the Senate.

It’s time for Congress to get the job done! Contact your Representative and Senator today. Let them know you are counting on a bold bill that makes impactful investments to:

  • Speed the transition to clean energy and tackle the climate crisis.
  • Modernize our water infrastructure and replace more lead pipes.
  • Ensure that disadvantaged communities and those who have experienced outsized burdens from pollution and climate change benefit equitably from new programs.

These investments will help hard-hit communities breathe cleaner air, access safe and affordable drinking water, and secure good-paying clean energy jobs.

But our window to pass this legislation is closing. Please contact your Representative and Senator and urge them to act now. Together, we can protect our planet and people now and generations to come.
