Tell Oil Company CEOs that Arctic Drilling is Bad for Business

From the Alaska Wilderness League (http://www.alaskawild.org):

Recently an ad in The Wall Street Journal put companies like Chevron, ExxonMobile and ConocoPhillips on notice: we will hold accountable corporations who consider drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

We let them know you’re watching and won’t tolerate corporations who defile the Gwich’in people’s “Sacred Place Where Life Begins.”

Can you send a note to the CEOs of these companies today at https://secure.everyaction.com/VtM7wwBNOkWEvdv4G-Knkw2 to drive the point home?

Already, BP has sold off its development rights in Alaska. Let’s keep up this momentum and make sure no company bids to drill in the Arctic Refuge. Drilling for oil in a remote place like the Arctic Refuge is already incredibly expensive and risky — and we know oil companies also weigh the risk of bad publicity when they consider these investments. If they know they’ll also be facing a PR nightmare, they might decide the costs of drilling outweigh the benefits.

These conversations are already happening behind the scenes, so make sure these oil companies hear public sentiment loud and clear.

Tell the CEOs of Chevron, ExxonMobile and ConocoPhillips that Arctic drilling is bad business.

Banks are also weighing in. Investors representing over $2.6 trillion in assets have warned oil companies that they’ll face financial risk and public backlash if they drill in America’s last great wilderness.

As these oil companies weigh their options, it’s critical that we keep up the pressure. Send a message to oil companies — it’s time for them to listen to Indigenous leaders, scientists, banks AND consumers. The Arctic Refuge is no place for oil rigs.
