From Moms Rising (https://www.momsrising.org/):

You did it! Your unwavering support for a pathway to citizenship for essential workers, DACA recipients and TPS holders has made it through to the next stage of the reconciliation process in Congress. During Wednesday’s early morning hours, after an all nighter, the U.S. Senate passed the budget resolution and kept a pathway to citizenship in the reconciliation package. We have momentum on our side! Now, the next steps will include the House voting on this measure.

It’s time to make our voices heard even louder to make sure this policy moves to a win — and we have a powerful (and easy) way for you to do just that. Here goes: Before the House vote happens, everyone is taking a break and Congress is in recess. This is a vital time when members of Congress go back to their districts, read their local papersand hear directly from people like you! Letters to the editor in local papers are some of the most impactful ways to get a representative’s attention while simultaneously engaging your community and neighbors as well!

This is a critical time to show support for immigrants in your community! The situation is dire for immigrant families that are in limbo following a July 16th Texas federal court ruling that leaves the future of the DACA program uncertain. Congress has the opportunity to end this uncertainty for not only DACA recipients but also essential workers and TPS holders by creating a path to citizenship in the reconciliation package.

More than 5 million immigrants have been helping keep us afloat throughout the pandemic. [1] Our survival through the last year and our continued recovery is due to immigrants like DACA recipients, essential workers, and TPS holders who work as doctors, nurses, grocery store clerks, teachers, sanitation workers, farmworkers, caregivers and so much more. Now is the time to take action and keep pushing for a pathway to citizenship.

We make it super easy for you by providing a sample letter, talking points, and even an automatic way to submit it. Click here to get started.

The clock is ticking for us to make sure this makes it into your local paper in time for when members of Congress return home to their districts. Letters to the editor are a powerful way to make sure leaders hear your voice.

The pre-drafted letter (which you can edit when you click through to the link) simply says:

We all hoped the worst of the pandemic was behind us, but the Delta variant is here, wreaking havoc, and once again Dreamers are heroically serving in essential roles here and all across the country. They are our doctors, nurses, home caregivers, teachers, and farmworkers. Immigrants are essential to our care infrastructure. They have not given up on us throughout the entire pandemic and we should not give up on them.

Congress must act now to create a path to citizenship for Dreamers and other essential workers, including farmworkers and TPS holders. There is an immediate opportunity for Congress to deliver this in the Build Back Better reconciliation package.

Supporting a pathway to citizenship is a no-brainer. If Congress creates a pathway to citizenship for immigrants, our country’s GDP could grow by $1.5 trillion and we would create 400,000 new jobs. No wonder a new poll shows that 70 percent of Americans support creating a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, TPS holders, and essential workers. It’s time for everyone in our community to speak up in support of our immigrant friends, families, co-workers, neighbors, and caregivers. [2]

Be sure to submit your letter to the editor now with just a few simple steps.

After you submit your own letter to the editor, please forward this email to friends. The more of us who send letters the bigger the impact will be.

Thank you so much for speaking out for immigrant essential workers & mixed status families!
