Solar energy is a crucial tool in our efforts to tackle climate change and reduce air pollution. A proposal pending in the state legislature will help Pennsylvanians tap into solar power if they have roofs that are too shaded, are renters, or live in multi-tenant buildings.

Support this important solar legislation today at https://pennenvironment.webaction.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=33961.

This legislation (House Bill 531) is part of a growing solar access option often referred to as “Community Solar” which would allow any Pennsylvanian who pays a utility bill to access solar electricity and overcome some of the most common barriers that restrict people from

accessing solar. As the Solar Energy Industries Association notes, Community Solar legislation offers “equal access to the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy regardless of the physical attributes or ownership of a home or business.”1

If we’re going to continue to make headway in achieving our ambitious goals for reducing global warming pollution, we need to take common-sense solutions like solar power that have a proven track record of success. Community Solar projects are already up and running in communities in 43 states, and it will be a crucial tool in the toolbox for concerned Pennsylvanians to use as well.

Please take a minute to email your state Representative and ask them to support House Bill 531 to implement Community Solar programs here in Pennsylvania.

This legislation has already earned bipartisan support from legislators all over the state. Ask your state representative to join them in order to increase clean energy access, reduce air pollution, and promote local renewable energy industry.

Please send an email to your legislator in support of more solar energy in Pennsylvania today.
