Tell PA Legislators to Support Clean Budget Without Bad Environmental Riders

From the Sierra Club (https://www.sierraclub.org/):

Budget negotiations are happening right now in Harrisburg and there are some who want to cut funding for important investments in our environment and our communities while providing giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.

Tell your legislator to support a clean and strong budget at https://act.sierraclub.org/actions/Pennsylvania?actionId=AR0141329.

In the crosshairs

The proposed budget would strip funding from the Keystone Recreation, Park & Conservation Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Fund in efforts to balance the budget. These special funds are used to make important investments in our communities, like flood control, acid mine drainage remediation, land conservation, and outdoor recreation.

Giveaways to coal and gas

$450 million in tax credits to the waste coal industry over the next 10 years. This money would be used to keep plants open that spew lead, mercury, and greenhouses gases into our air and create toxic coal ash that often contaminates ground and surface waters where the ash is stored.

There are multiple bills in Speaker Turzai’s subsidy package that provide millions in grants and tax credits for the natural gas and petrochemical industries and these giveaways could easily be slipped into this years budget.

Say NO to these bad budget riders.

We ask the General Assembly to support a clean budget that doesn’t slash environmental funding or provide giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.
