Tell PA Legislators to Support Background Checks for Ammo Sales

From CeaseFirePA (http://www.ceasefirepa.org):

Yaaseen should never have been allowed to buy the bullets used to kill 14-year-old Nick at Roxborough Highschool. He is a felon, and the law is clear: he can’t own ammunition.

But, nothing stopped him from buying it. Unlike gun sales, dealers are not required to run background checks to sell ammo.

It’s time for a background check for every ammo purchase. This life-saving law would keep the bullets that cause damage, out of the hands of killers, instead of waiting for them to be arrested afterward for possession. It might have prevented the Roxborough Highschool shooting.

This isn’t the only shooting it would prevent. Before the Aurora, Colorado mass shooting in 2012 the gunman legally bought 6,000 rounds as easy as buying a book from Amazon. The result was 12 deaths.

It’s a pattern we’ve seen repeated by other mass shooters. In Las Vegas, the shooter had 1,600 rounds. In Sandy Hook, 1,700 rounds of ammunition. And yet, you can buy this ammo without a background check or face-to-face interaction.

It’s time that changes. Take Action Now at https://act.ceasefirepa.org/a/ammobackgroundchecks.
