From Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children (http://www.papartnerships.org):
In less than 60 days, the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program will expire if Congress doesn’t act to extend this vital program.
MIECHV provides funding for states to develop and implement evidence-based home visiting programs that improve outcomes for at-risk families during pregnancy through their child’s entry into kindergarten. Nearly half of Pennsylvania’s resources used to deliver evidence-based home visiting services comes from federal MIECHV funding.
We know evidence-based home visiting is an investment that pays off. Evidence-based home visiting has been shown to increase school readiness, improve maternal and child health, reduce child abuse and neglect and promote greater economic self-sufficiency amongst participating families. Simply put, it’s an investment that works.
Please join other individuals and organizations across the commonwealth by signing on to the message to Pennsylvania’s Congressional delegation at http://salsa4.salsalabs.com/o/51288/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=23046, asking them to extend the program before MIECHV funding expires on September 30th, 2017.
Thank you for helping us speak up for Pennsylvania’s most vulnerable children and families.
