Tell PA Senators to Say NO on Bill to Delay Rule on Pollution Reduction Standards

From Friends of the Earth (http://www.foe.org/):

Donald Trump and Scott Pruitt just backed down on their attempt to let Big Polluters continue pouring smog into the air.

Due to legal pressure from 15 states, Pruitt’s EPA announced it would stop trying to delay a rule reducing pollution from smokestacks and tailpipes. This shows that when we stand up to Trump and Pruitt, we can prevent them from destroying our planet and harming public health.

But Congress is trying to get around the EPA’s decision. The House recently passed the “Smoggy Skies Act” (actually S 263, the “Ozone Standards Implementation Act”)—which would delay the rule for nearly a decade. We need your help to stop this bill in the Senate!

Tell our Senators: Vote NO on the Smoggy Skies Act at http://action.foe.org/p/dia/action4/common/public/?action_KEY=22192!

The Smoggy Skies Act would allow Big Polluters to pour unacceptable levels of smog-creating ozone pollution into our atmosphere.

These pollutants endanger the health of children, the elderly, and anyone who suffers from asthma, heart disease or respiratory problems. They can even be deadly.

The EPA’s analysis shows that stronger smog standards — which the Smoggy Skies Act would block — would save hundreds of lives, prevent 160,000 missed school days for kids, and save billions in health care spending every year.

But Big Oil doesn’t care about our health. So it’s pulling out all the stops to push your Senators to pass this bill. Now, we need to make sure your Senators hear from you, not just oil industry lobbyists.

Tell our Senators: Don’t put Big Oil before our health! Reject the Smoggy Skies Act.
