Actions speak louder than words.

Last year, world leaders reached the Paris Agreement, the world’s first global climate pact that included every major country on the planet. Today, that agreement enters into force!

Now, it’s time for our governments to move from word to action. This month, these leaders are gathering in Morocco for COP22, the annual climate negotiations. Over 175 high-level faith leaders from around the world – including the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu – have signed. Now, it’s your turn to make your voice heard, and to show world leaders that you understand how urgent the climate crisis is.

The COP22 Interfaith Statement is a joint effort of more than thirty faith groups from around the world, a remarkable, multi-faith coalition. We in the faith community are well-positioned to challenge governments to take action. We’ve prayed, organized and mobilized millions of our followers on climate change. We’ve helped lead the fossil fuel divestment movement, with more than US$24 billion of divestment commitments from 126 religious institutions. People of faith are sending a transformative signal to governments, financial markets and investors worldwide: the time has come for the end of the fossil fuel era.
